The Shakespeare Theatre Company (Washington, DC) is casting its 2009 season. Season includes: The Taming of the Shrew (William Shakespeare, writer; David Muse, dir. Rehearsals begin Aug. 4; runs Aug. 28-Sept. 13 in Harman Hall), The Bacchae (co-production with The Public Theater in New York. Euripides, writer; Nicholas Rudall, adaptor; JoAnne Akalatis, dir. Rehearsals begin Sept. 8 in DC; runs Oct. 5-Nov. 2 on the Lansburgh Stage), As You Like It (William Shakespeare, writer; Maria Aitken, dir.; Rehearsals begin Oct. 13; runs Nov. 23-Dec. 26 in Harman Hall), Richard II (William Shakespeare, writer; Michael Kahn, dir. Rehearsals begin Dec. 1; performs Feb. 16-April 18, 2010 in Harman Hall), Henry V (performs in rep with Richard II. Williams Shakespeare, writer; David Muse, dir. Rehearsals begin Dec. 1; runs Feb. 16-April 18, 2010 in Harman Hall), The Liar (Pierre Corneille, writer; David Ives, adaptor-translator; Michael Kahn, dir. Rehearsals begin March 2; runs April 12-July 5, 2010 on the Lansburgh Stage), and Mrs. Warren’s Profession (George Bernard Shaw, writer; Keith Baxter, dir. The Taming of the Shrew-All Roles: except Tranio, Haberdasher, Pedant, Hortensio and Biondello.

The Bacchae-All roles are CAST; performers will be considered for possible replacements.

As You Like It-All Roles.

Richard II-All Roles: except Richard II.

Henry V-All Roles: except Henry V.

The Liar-All Roles.

Mrs. Warren’s Profession-All Roles: except Mrs. Warren and Vivie.

Equity principal auditions will be held March 12, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. & 2:30-6 p.m. at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26th St. (btwn. Sixth & Seventh aves.), 6th fl., NYC. Prepare a classical monologue, preferably Shakespeare (verse preferred). Bring pix & resumes, stapled together. All roles are understudied. [Read More...]
